The Orthodox Holy Archdiocese of Madagascar is an autocephalous diocese of the Orthodox Church, subordinate to the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. It was established by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa in 2003. THe Head of Archdiocese is His Eminence Metropolitan Theodoron of Madagascar, who is appointed by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and is based in the capital city of Antananarivo. The Archdiocese serves to spread the Orthodox faith throughout Madagascar and provide spiritual and material assistance to the people of Madagascar. The Archdiocese is actively engaged in a variety of activities including social services, charity, education, and missionary work among the Malagasy people. There are four Churches located in throughout Madagascar, in Antananarivo, Antsiranana, Fianarantsoa, and Toliara.
