FJKM Lavahitsiny Zoara Nohavaozina In Madagascar: History,Facts, & Services

is a church and handcraft cooperative set up in 2002 in the town of Mandritsara in the region of Sofia in Madagascar. The organisation is composed of four divisions : an Evangelical Church 'Lavahitsiny Zoara Nohavaozina' (LZN), a Bible Training Centre (Zoara Sofia), a skill centre (Vondrona Tandrefana) and a handcraft project (Ny Fampianarana). The first Lavahitsiny Zoara Nohavaozina (LZN) Evangelical Congregation was officially inaugurated in April 2002, with 60 members. It is situated in a largely rural area and provides preaching and Christian teaching to the people in the community. The Bible Training Centre was established in 2004 and it provides courses on bible studies. The skill centre was set up in 2007 to provide training on traditional crafts from local materials, such as straw, wooden boxes and baskets. Finally, the handcraft project was founded in 2009 to market and promote the craft work made by the local workers. The cooperative is actively involved in social development activities and offers support to underprivileged local families through income generation, education, and solidarity. FJKM Lavahitsiny Zoara Nohavaozina also organizes workshops and seminars on themes such as human rights, gender issues, HIV awareness and sustainable development, among others.
