The Wat Pha Tham temple in Luang Prabang, Laos, follows Theravada Buddhism and the local Lao traditions. Worship at this temple is often conducted in unison by a group of devotees, with prayers and offerings done at several altars around the temple grounds. Devotees will kneel and bow their heads three times to make their offering while chanting mantras or prayers three times. Afterwards, they usually ring the temple bells three times before proceeding to the main altar where some will offer white flowers (often lotus flowers) or incense as an offering. After chanting the invocation mantra, the devotees join their hands together, raise their hands, bow deeply, and pay homage to the images of the Buddha and the other Gods.
