Cathedral In Kosovo: History,Facts, & Services

History:

The Cathedral of Saint Mother Teresa in Pristina, Kosovo, is a Roman Catholic cathedral and a major landmark of the city. It was built in honor of Mother Teresa (1910-1997), an ethnic Albanian and Catholic nun. Mother Teresa was born in what is now Macedonia and was a Nobel Peace Prize recipient for her humanitarian work. The cathedral was built in dedication to her achievements in 1999, shortly after the cessation of the Kosovo War. The crystal-shaped “tear drop” design of the building is based on the idea of a dove representing hope for the future of Kosovo. The inside of the cathedral contains several chapels and a museum dedicated to Mother Teresa. Its capacity is 1,200 people and has been the site for several important events. It is one of the best churches in Kosovo which you must visit.
