Stepney Baptist Church is an historic church located in St. Ann, Jamaica, established in 1878. Its official name is the Stepney Baptist Church of Jamaica. The church is an offshoot of an English church, Stepney Church, located in the Borough of Tower Hamlets, in what is now Greater London. History:

The original Stepney Church in England was founded in 1644 and is one of the earliest Baptist churches in the world. Through a long and turbulent history, the church has endured with steadfast faith, and still remains at the same location. Upon hearing of the growth of Baptist presence in Jamaica and the need for a vibrant church in the parish of St. Ann, the Stepney Church mission committee decided to offer their assistance to help set up a Jamaican branch of the Stepney Church. In 1878, several Jamaican Baptist scholars and activists founded the Stepney Baptist Church of Jamaica in St. Ann. The church quickly became a beacon of religious freedom in Jamaica and one of the largest and most renowned Baptist churches in the region. Over the years, Stepney Baptist Church developed into a steady, vibrant congregation and has served as a well-known place of worship and spiritual learning. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jamaica.
