St. Mark's Anglican Church was built in 1848, and is the oldest standing church building in Uxbridge. The land it was built upon was donated by Colonel Thomas Clarke, a local politician and entrepreneur. The original building was a simple frame structure, and was replaced in 1867 by the Gothic Revival style structure which stands today. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jamaica.
