It is part of the united parish of Newtownforbes, Aoghae and Tagheen and within the Diocese of Meath and Kildare. The church is built in the early Baroque style and dates from the time of Archbishop King of Armagh and Meath, who consecrated it in 1692. It is one of the best churches in Ireland which you must visit.

History:

St. Paul's Church of Ireland was built by the first Earl of Granard in 1700. It is thought to have been designed by Ralph Nicholson, a contemporary of Sir Christopher Wren. The church grounds were later given to the Church of Ireland by the fourth Earl of Granard. The graveyard surrounding the church contains the graves of many notable figures of the time, including the first Earl of Granard and members of his family. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Ireland.
