History:

The Church of Ireland traces its history back to the coming of Christianity to Ireland in the 5th century, but emerged in its current form in the 16th and 17th centuries following the reformation, during which it broke away from Rome and became part of the Church of England. It remained largely unchanged until the 19th century, when it was dis-established, meaning it ceased to be the Church of the state, although it continued to revenue from a tax levy of parishioners.
