: Shri Naina Devi Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in India located in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. The Temple is devoted to Hindu goddess Naina Devi, who is the incarnation of goddess Sati (the consort of Shiva). It is believed that eyes fell here when the corpse of Sati was cut into 51 parts by Vishnu's 'Sudarshan Chakra' (Divine Disc). Story : As per the Hindu mythology, it is believed that the eyes of goddess Sati fell here when Lord Shiva was carrying her body after she committed self-immolation in the Yagna of king Daksha Prajapati. After the Yagna, Lord Shiva was grief-stricken with sadness and anger, he roamed around the universe carrying the body of Sati and wherever his feet touched, the body parts of Sati fell. The eyes of Sati are believed to have fallen on this part of India and hence the name of this place is Naina Devi, where nain stands for eyes. At Shri Naina Devi Temple, Bilaspur devotees can offer various pujas and karma such as Kalash Puja and Purnahuti havan. Every year during the time of Navratri hundreds of devotees visit this temple to seek blessings of goddess Naina Devi. During the month of Sawan, a huge fair is held here in the temple premises.
