Worship Method:

In Himachal Pradesh, people worship Shani Dev during Shani Amavasya, which falls in the month of Jyestha according to the Hindu Lunar Calendar. Worshippers offer prayersto Shani Dev after taking bath early in the morning. They perform puja with samidhaas (sacrificial offerings), abhishek (bathing of the idol), and offer coconuts, flowers, incense, and lamps. Prasad is distributed after puja. People also circumambulate the temple seven times, visiting and offering prayers at the seven stairs near the temple. Special rituals are conducted on Saturday evening. At Shani Dev temples, haldi, chawal, and kesar are offered to the deity. On special occasions, devotees prepare a prasad called Shri Satya Narayana Churma, which is made of a mixture of wheat flour, ghee, and sugar, and then it is offered to the deity. Apart from puja and special rituals, Bhajan and Kirtan are also performed to please Shani Dev. Devotees also recite prayers and verses in praise of Shani Dev.
