is the site of the well-known battle in 1897 known as the Battle of Saragarhi in which 21 soldiers of the 36th regiment of Bengal Native Infantry (now known as the 4th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment) of the British Indian Army valiantly fought against an Afghan Orakzai tribe of 10,000 warriors. The battle, now regarded as one of the greatest military feats in human history, is celebrated on 12 September every year as Saragarhi Day. The Gurudwara at this site, commemorating the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in this battle, was built in the 1930s. It is one of the historical Gurudwaras in Punjab.
