The Parika Seventh-day Adventist Church was founded in 1912. It was the first Seventh-day Adventist church in the Essequibo region. In the early days of the church, the membership was 80 persons. Currently, the church has over 200 members. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Guyana.
