Kali mandir is an Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Kali. Worship at a Kali mandir usually begins with lighting of incense and prayer before the image of Kali. The devotee then makes obeisance by offering flowers and red or yellow kumkum (vermillion). This is followed by the chanting of mantras and the recitation of scriptures. Prayers are often accompanied by clanging of bells and the blowing of conch shells. After the prayer, the devotee performs an aarti (a ritual offering of lighted lamps) to the deity.
