Worship Method:
The worship or prayer in Jain Derasar in Ahmedabad follows the Digambara tradition, which is characterized by simple mantra recitations and stillness. The name of the principle deity in the Jain Derasar is Bhagavan Rishabhanatha, known as the first Tirthankara of the present cycle of time. The traditional form of worship in Jain Derasar is known as Puja, which includes lighting the temple lamp, offering flowers and fruits, chanting mantras and a series of rituals. The mantras sung during the prayer sessions include the namaskara and Navkar mantras. Prayers to specific Tirthankaras are also sung. There are also other rituals involving bowing and prostrations. The end of the worship ceremony is marked by Karayalo or offering of a gamla (container of water) and singing of the navkar mantra. After completing the Puja, one may light candles and incense while offering prayers to all the Tirthankaras.
