The people of Dronninglund felt a deep attachment and loyalty to the Krabbe family and castle, and the castle became a cultural center of sorts for the people of the area. In 1777, the castle passed into the possession of the Hartvigsen family and it underwent renovations and refurbishments to restore it to its former glory.
