Old Indian Meeting House is a historic site located on the Moosehead Lake in Maine. It was built in 1794 and served as a religious and political center for the Penobscot, Passamaquoddy and Maliseet people. The meeting house was used as a place to exchange news, mediate disputes, trade goods and conduct religious ceremonies. The first meetinghouse was built in 1794 at the instruction of Joseph Orono, the first elected chief of the Penobscot Tribe.
