Lyngby Kirke is an historic church located in the central part of Lyngby in North Zealand, Denmark. The first record of the church dates from 1300, making it one of the oldest churches in the nation. The building has been expanded and renovated several times, retaining its distinctive Romanesque and Gothic architecture. The church consists of a nave, chancel, north and south aisles, south porch and a square tower in the northwestern corner. The main entrance is through the south porch, which has a Gothic doorway. Inside the church, the ceilings are primarily painted with intricate patterns and adornments. The main altar and pulpit are from the Baroque period, while the two side altars date from the early 1800s. Lyngby Kirke offers regular Sunday services as well as occasional special services. It is also used for weddings and funerals. The church also has a small museum in its basement featuring artifacts, paintings, graves and other items of interest.
