Houston’s First Baptist Church was established in 1841 as the first organized Baptist church in the city. The founding members sought to create a community that would serve their spiritual needs. Meetings were held in various homes, before the original church building was constructed in 1845. The church has been served by twelve Senior Ministers throughout the years and has expanded its ministry to include 10 different mission locations. The church has seen much growth and change, but continues to remain true to its purpose of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and serving the local community. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in USA.
