History:

Construction of the Freiburger Münster began around 1200, when the first stone was laid by the Bishop of Freiburg, Bertold von Geroldseck. Several decades later, the foundations were laid for the main structure and the pillars of the choir were erected. The construction of the Münster went through several stages of development as architects added new features and elements. During the early fourteenth century, the creation of the transept was completed, followed by the completion of the choir in 1513.
