Arnborg Church is a Medieval church located in the small town of Arnborg, Denmark. It was erected during the 13th century and is listed as a historic site by the Danish National Museum since 1925. It is especially noted for its impressive medieval architecture, one of its most striking features being the carved portal on the west side of the church. Arnborg Church is also famous for its rich history and its incredibly well-preserved interior. Arnborg Church History Arnborg Church was first founded in the late 12th century by the Cistercian Monastery of Fjellemarkskloster. The monastery had previously been founded in Arnborg in 1170 by the Bishop of Viborg and the local noblemen. The original Gothic style building is still visible in the interior of the church, with its hand carved flowers, vines, and arches. Arnborg Church Facts The church is about 30 meters long and 14 meters wide, and its tower is about 40 meters high. The building also includes two annexes, one on each side of the main church. Inside, the church is still decorated with murals and frescoes from the Middle Ages. Externally, the building still retains some of its original features from the 13th century, such as the gargoyles and portals.
