In 1640, the church was consecrated as a Lutheran church. It is one of the best churches in Germany which you must visit.

The site for what would become Andreaskirche was originally used as a Franciscan convent in 1294. The church was used as a parish church for many years and was renovated several times over the centuries. During the Thirty Years' War, the church was almost completely destroyed. The current building dates from 1640 and features a historic Gothic altar from around 1450. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Germany.
