dates back to 1871 when the church was founded as South Newnansville Baptist Church by Reverend Eugene P. Brown and eleven charter members. The church's original location was 13 miles northeast of Madison, Georgia, and it was the first Baptist church in the area. The original wooden building was replaced by a brick building in 1915. In 1935 the church changed its name to South Newport Baptist Church and moved to the current location on South Newport Road in Madison, Georgia. Today its membership includes over 200 people and offers Sunday School, weekly worship services, and community activities and events. It is one of the best churches in Georgia which you must visit.
