: Sultan Murad I Mosque (Turkish: Sultan Murat Camisi) is a historic mosque in the city of Edirne, Turkey. It was commissioned by Ottoman Sultan Murad I in 1385 and completed by his son, Sultan Bayezid I, in 1388. It is one of the most important Islamic structures in the city, known for its grand size and exquisite Ottoman architecture. The mosque is built in a massive rectangular plan and is surmounted with a two-tiered minaret and a large dome. Inside, the prayer hall is covered with Iznik tiles and domed with a mihrab wall. Its dome is unique in its style, blending Ottoman and Byzantine elements. The mosque also has very beautiful carvings and other decorations. In 2009, the complex was included in the Tentative List for potential nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the most famous mosque in Turkey which you must visit.

Six large semi-domes joined the dome together and the supporting walls were covered in Iznik tile. There are two side minarets with two balconies each. The interior of the main prayer hall is equally impressive, decorated in both stalactites and stained-glass windows. The walls are adorned with verses from the Quran which were formed through calligraphy. Historical artifacts from the Ottoman period are also displayed in the mosque. These include carpets, tapestries and other works of art. The mosque was restored throughout the 19th-century, and today still remains one of the most important landmarks in Edirne. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
