St. Patrick Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic Church located in Washington, D.C in the United States. It was founded in 1851 and is the oldest Catholic Church in D.C. It is named after St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, and was built by Irish immigrants coming to the United States. It is one of the best churches in USA which you must visit.

History:

In 1845, an Irish-born priest, Rev. Patrick Boyle, was appointed by the Bishop of Maryland to serve the city's growing Irish Catholic population. A year later, he purchased a lot on 10th Street and small chapel was built there. In 1851, a larger church was built on the site of the chapel, and on July 4, 1851, the first Mass was celebrated in the new St. Patrick's Church. In 1951, the church celebrated its centennial with a visit from the Pope. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in USA.
