The church is a Grade II listed building and was originally built in the early 1860s. St Barnabas Church, Hove was built between 1861 and 1862 as part of the East Blatchington parish. It was designed by the well-known Brighton-based architects, husband and wife team, George Cheeseman and Jane Kettle, and is noted for its distinctive clock tower. The church was consecrated by the Bishop of Chichester on October 10th, 1862. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in England.
