History:

The church was founded in 1819 with the arrival of Abner Harry, an ordained minister from Pennsylvania, who settled on a farm near Oxford. He held services and baptisms in his home until a small wood frame building was constructed to house the congregation. This building, known as the “Old Kirk”, was located on Oxford’s South Main Street. Reverend Harry served as pastor for over 30 years and was instrumental in establishing Oxford College, a center of higher learning that later became Miami University. In 1853 construction of the current church building was complete, built in a Greek Revival style with walls constructed of local limestone.
