The Mosque of Al-Sultan Al-Saleh Najm al-Din Ayyub is located in Cairo, Egypt. It was built in 1218-1219 AD by the famous Ayyubid leader Al-Sultan Al-Saleh Najm al-Din Ayyub and is renowned for its impressive architecture. The mosque is situated in the Fatimid City area of Cairo and has two entrances, one on the northern side and one on the southern side, both of which lead into a large square courtyard. The main feature of the mosque is its Ottoman style complex dome, which is held up by four pendentives. This dome is encircled by two galleries, one on the inside and one on the outside. There is also a much larger secondary dome, on the eastern end of the structure, which encircles the mihrab. The interior of the mosque contains a number of smaller domes, arches and windows which contribute to the overall beauty of the structure. In addition to the main architectural style of the mosque, a number of other styles and influences can also be seen. For example, the marble walls feature some tile decorations as well exterior mihrab decorations which display Mameluke-influenced designs. The mihrab also incorporates some Byzantine elements, while the wooden doors and window frames are decorated in an Ottoman style. The Mosque of Al-Sultan Al-Saleh Najm al-Din Ayyub has been described as one of the most beautiful and unique monuments of Cairo, and serves as a reminder of Egypt's rich cultural history.
