San Juan Bautista Cathedral is situated in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is known as the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. It is one of the oldest Roman Catholic churches in the Caribbean, having been consecrated during 1521. The Cathedral of San Juan Bautista is located in the Plaza de San José in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. It was initially established in 1521, making it the second-oldest cathedral in the Americas, after the Cathedral of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. The original plan for the cathedral was designed and completed by the Italian architect Cannella, who later worked on other public works in San Juan and Aguadilla. Much of the original building material for the structure came from Spain, including five columns from the Gothic Church of Santa María in Barcelona and a bell that had been made in Seville. History:

After two previous locations were destroyed by fire or hurricanes, the cathedral was finally placed in the Plaza de San José in 1540. It has since withstood various earthquakes and hurricanes, including the 11th December 1918 hurricane and the 2024 earthquake, with only minor damage to the original structure. Despite its age, the cathedral is still an active center of worship and service. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Dominican Republic.
