Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Cruz Bay is a Roman Catholic parish located in the Caribbean island of St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. It is one of the oldest churches in the Caribbean and was founded in 1669 by French Jesuits. The church was initially used to conduct mass and operate as a mission to evangelize the local population. Over the centuries, the church has been renovated and expanded several times. Its present form, with a majestic bell tower, dates back to 1897. It is one of the best churches in Dominican Republic which you must visit.

History:

 Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Cruz Bay was established in 1669 by the French Jesuits who had arrived in the area. At first, it was used as a mission to evangelize the local population, who were predominately Protestant. Over time, the church underwent a few alterations, including an expansion in 1702 and the addition of a bell tower in 1819. In 1897, the bell tower was replaced with a soaring turret that stands to this day. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Dominican Republic.
