United Methodist Church of Ivory Coast In Côte d'Ivoire: History,Facts, & Services
The United Methodist Church of Ivory Coast (UMCOC) is a mainline Protestant denomination based in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The church traces its heritage back to British Methodist missionaries working in the region during the late 1700s and early 1800s. The UMCOC was officially established in 1942, although it was structured as a branch of The Methodist Church of Great Britain. The UMCOC works to teach the Christian faith to all interested Ivorians and to provide support to its members in their daily lives. Its mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by providing spiritual nourishment, growing the church, and promoting justice and peace in the world. The UMCOC offers a variety of services, including adult and children’s Sunday School classes, Bible studies, small group meetings, and worship services. The church also runs a range of social programs, such as homeless shelters and food assistance for impoverished families.
