The cathedral was built in the mid-14th century, and underwent major reconstruction in the Baroque style during the 17th and 18th centuries. Its impressive tower rises 163 feet, offering stunning views of the city. It is one of the best churches in Czechia which you must visit.

History:

 The church of Saints Wenceslas and Stanyslas is an historic Gothic church that has been part of the city of Olomouc for over 600 years. The cathedral is dedicated to the two patron saints of the Czech lands, St Wenceslas and St Stanyslas, and the first stone was laid in 1350. In the intervening centuries, there have been numerous events that have changed the look and feel of the church, including Baroque renovations, a statue of St Wenceslas at the entrance, and now monuments remembering recent Czech heroes. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Czechia.

The cathedral is the primary cathedral for the diocese of Olomouc, and it continues to hold weekly masses and other services. During the Christmas season, services are held each Sunday, as well as on Christmas morning from 5:00am to 12:00pm. Weddings, baptisms, and funerals can all be arranged for at the cathedral.
