The Church of the Name of the Virgin Mary in Czechia is a Roman Catholic Church located in the city of Brno. It is one of the oldest churches in the city, dating from 1143. The construction of the church was ordered by Zbynek Zajic, a nobleman from Brno. The church stands on the site of earlier Romanesque and Gothic buildings and was rebuilt in the Neo-Renaissance style in the 19th century. It has a single nave, with a side chapel, presbytery and sacristy. The interior is lavishly decorated with frescoes, paintings and statues. The main altar is from the late 18th century and its two side altars are from the early 19th century. The Church of the Name of the Virgin Mary is considered to be an important part of the architectural heritage of Brno and Czechia. The church offers a number of services, including regular Sunday Mass and other religious services, as well as special events like concerts and conferences. It also provides weekly Bible study classes for locals and visitors. The church is open to the public for sightseeing during the day, and is a popular destination for tourists who come to explore the city’s history and architecture.
