The Church of St. Catherine - Litomyšl In Czechia is an early Baroque-style church located in a small town in eastern Bohemia. Built between 1671 and 1682, this church was constructed by an Italian master builder of the era, Giulio di Picchietti. The church is noted for its clear Neo-Romanian architecture with Italian decoration. The church’s main feature is the altar which has a painting of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in the center. The altar was designed to hold five lights, which were replaced in the 19th century with statues of saints taken from other churches. The wall decorations are frame-like and the large windows allow for plenty of light to enter. The church provides worshippers with regular services and it is used for baptisms, marriages and funerals. There are also regular exhibition and educational programs, as well as folk music events. The church is a popular destination for visitors looking for a unique religious experience, as well as a great place to experience the culture and history of the Czech Republic.
