Brno Anglican Church in Czechia is a parish of the Anglican Diocese in Europe, an autonomous Province of the Church of England. Situated in the Czech Republic's second largest city, it is the only Anglican parish in Czechia and is dedicated to serving the local English-speaking community. History Brno Anglican Church was founded in 1993, thanks to the efforts of Erik Hooft, an Anglican Chaplain in Vienna, as part of the then Diocese of Gibraltar in Europe. The church is located in a Baroque building which was originally built in 1771 as a Carmelite cloister. Facts The Church is part of the global fellowship of the Anglican Communion, as well as the Czech Ecumenical Council. Services are conducted in English and a mix of Czech, German and Slovak, reflecting the diversity of the local English-speaking community. Services Brno Anglican Church offers services both on Sunday mornings and on weeknights, during which traditional Anglican liturgical forms are used. There is also a weekday morning prayer, led by the lay office-holders of the church - teachers, chaplains and others - who lead the congregation in Bible-reading, singing and prayer. Brno Anglican Church also holds monthly “family services”, giving everyone in the congregation a chance to be involved.
