History:
is a brick-wooden structured three-tier pagoda built as part of Cishou Temple in Jingzhou, China during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). The temple was destroyed in subsequent wars, leaving only the pagoda intact. The pagoda is a good example of architecture from the Song Dynasty and has been well protected. It stands 48.92 m in height and consists of nine stories and a crowning spire. It is also known as "Jingzhou Pagoda" or "Song Pagoda". It is one of the oldest and tallest existing pagodas in China. Worship Method:
The worship method of the Pagoda of Cishou Temple in China is similar to Taoist rituals elsewhere in the country. Its primary purpose is to show respect to the gods and ancestors that died in the battle of Cishou. Offerings are made to honor these individuals, with incense, lamps, fruits, grains, and paper money being burned on the altar. Special instructions are often required for these offerings, and priests lead the ritual. At the end of the ritual, the worshippers may kneel and bow to the gods, making more offerings.
