Worship Method:

Guanyin Ancient Temple is located in the Fujian Province of China. It is an ancient Taoist temple dedicated to the worship of Guanyin – the bodhisattva of mercy and compassion. Worship at the Guanyin Temple is both ritualistic and unique. Upon entering the temple, one must first pay respect to the giant statue of Guanyin located at the main hall. Here, worshippers make the traditional bowing and kowtow gestures while chanting or reciting mantras. After paying respect to the statue of Guanyin, worshippers pay respect at the Nine Emperor Gods Temple just outside the main hall. Here, worshippers light incense and pray for blessings. Other rituals include offering flowers, clapping hands, chanting supplications, presenting money and prayers, and making food offerings. Next, worshippers proceed to the Guanyin Pavilion, where they offer flowers and recite sutras to the accompaniment of traditional instruments such as cymbals and drums. This ritual is considered to be an offering to the gods. Once the ritualistic portion of the worship is complete, worshippers go to the back side of the temple, where they can make donations to devotees who are known as “teachers”. After making the donation, the teacher will provide blessings and wish for prosperity and good fortune on the worshippers. Finally, the worshippers make their way back to the main hall, where they kneel in front of the Guanyin statue and say prayers for blessings and good fortune. As the worship concludes, the worshippers say their goodbyes and bow before leaving the temple. The Worship Method of Guanyin Ancient Temple is steeped in ritualistic tradition and symbolism. From the grand statue of Guanyin at the main hall to the Nine Emperor Gods Temple and Guanyin Pavilion, worshippers complete an elaborate ritual to invoke blessings and good fortune upon themselves. At the end of the worship, the temple visitors have experienced inner peace, humility, and satisfaction. This most visited temple in China
