The Apostolic Faith Church In Cameroon is a Christian denomination founded in 1929 by Rev. Benjamin Shinguonji in the city of Douala and it is the oldest African-American Pentecostal church in Cameroon. The church's mission statement include the following: Support Evangelism, Develop Ministry, Help members and Disciples Grow in Spirit, Teach, Disciple and train members and support the less fortunate. History The church was originally founded as the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Germany in 1871 but changed its name to the Apostolic Faith Church In Cameroon in 1929. The denomination was established by Rev. Benjamin Shinguonji, who sought to expand the Christian mission, particularly amongst the largely unevangelized native people of Cameroon. The church sees itself as unique, having been the first church to develop from a Western missionary movement, and delivers its message with a particular focus on the African culture and tradition. Facts The church has over 6000 members from throughout the country. It is headquartered in Douala, the largest city in Cameroon. The church follows an Apostolic Faith doctrine. The church has seven ministries: Church Services, Discipleship, Worship, Outreach/Evangelism, Young People/Youth, Children, and Missions. Services The church offers many forms of ministry and services, including: weekly worship services and Bible study, Sunday School, evangelism, prayer meetings, Vacation Bible School, and other special services among others. The church also provides both onsite and offsite services, such as free healthcare services, food aid, and financial support for members in need. The church runs many community-based projects, such as literacy and education programs, and microcredit projects. The church also offers leadership and discipleship training.
