The Capela de Sagrada Família is the oldest surviving church in the city of Porto Alegre, Brazil. Built in 1870, it was the first religious structure of the city, founded by Jesuit priests in the neighborhood of Lami. The original building, in Romanesque style, was built with local stones. It was modified in the years to follow and restored in 1916, when the frontispiece was completely rebuilt. Inside the church, a remarkable Pietà attributed to the Italo-Brazilian sculptor Marcos Coelho Neto can be found. The Capela de Sagrada Família has been a local landmark since its founding and continues to be a significant source of pride and cultural activity in the area.
