St. Paul's Cathedral is an iconic Church of England cathedral located in the City of London. It is the seat of the Bishop of London and the mother church of the Diocese of London. The first church on site dated back to the 7th century when a small religious house was founded by King Ethelbert of Kent. However, it was the 11th century wooden structure that served as London’s cathedral until it burned down in 1087. During the turbulent century that followed, several attempts were made to rebuild the cathedral, but all failed until the Norman Conquest in 1066.
