Eglise de Zigopa In Côte d'Ivoire: History,Facts, & Services
History:
The first building on the site was built around the 11th century, but the present chapel was reconstructed in the Gothic style in the 14th century. The church has largely retained its medieval architecture, although the roof and its original paintings were removed at the end of the 19th century. A restored 19th-century organ, with a choir-like structure beneath it, stands in the center of the church. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Côte d'Ivoire.

Eglise de Zigopa is a classified Historic Monument. It is one of the few remaining churches of its kind in the region. The chapel has a richly carved stone exterior, with two towers on either side of the entrance. Inside, its windows are decorated with stained glass panels depicting various saints.
