The church was designed by French architect Marcel Lods and based on the ideas of modernist architect Le Corbusier. Construction started in 1966 and finished in 1973. The church was consecrated by Pope Paul VI in 1975 and is home to the John Bosco Institute, which focuses on the teachings of St. John Bosco.
