Église Adventiste In Burkina Faso: History,Facts, & Services
Église Adventiste is a denomination within Christianity. It was founded in the United States in 1863 by a group of individuals under the leadership of James White and Ellen G. White. Its believes focus on the literal second coming of Jesus Christ, or “advent”, which is reflected in both its name and practices. Église Adventiste adherents generally attend church services on Saturday, instead of Sunday, and refrain from activities (such as alcohol, tobacco and some forms of entertainment) that are seen as potentially distracting from an active and devotion-based relationship with God. They practice a combination of traditional Protestant beliefs along with worshipping and study practices derived from Seventh-day Adventists. They maintain a strong emphasis on evangelism and mission work, with a belief that right preaching of the gospel is essential for both individual and global restoration. Église Adventiste churches provide a number of services for members, including educational, worship and charitable activities. The denomination also maintains colleges and universities, hospitals, retirement homes, orphanages and publishing houses. They strive to foster a strong sense of community and fellowship among members, as well as a sense of personal evangelism aimed at reaching the non-believing world.
