Christ the King Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in the city of Toledo, Ohio. The cathedral is named in honor of Jesus Christ, King of all kings and Lord of all lords. The cathedral traces its origins back to a parish church established in 1923 and was elevated to a cathedral in 1935 when the Diocese of Toledo was formally established.  The parish of Christ the King was formally established in 1923 as part of the Diocese of Cleveland, Ohio. After the Diocese of Toledo was established in 1935, Christ the King was elevated to a cathedral. Construction on the current building began in 1964 and was completed in 1967. The building was dedicated by Pope Paul VI during his visit to the United States in October of that year.
