and Beliefs The Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Botswana is an indigenous Pentecostal mission founded in the African country by two natives named Onkgopotse and Tafa Masitwane. Since its establishment in 1936, the AFM has grown to be one of the largest Pentecostal organisations in Africa. History Onkgopotse and Tafa Masitwane originally heard the teachings of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in South Africa through a radio broadcast and were inspired to join the organisation. The Masitwanes organised the first official AFM in Botswana in 1936 following permission from the AFM in South Africa. Facts The AFM in Botswana currently comprises over 266 churches and 500,000 members. It is run by the central headquarters, based in Gaberones. The AFM in Botswana is the mother church of several other African countries, including Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia.
