St. Tadeusz's Catholic Church In Belarus: History,Facts, & Services

St. Tadeusz's Catholic Church is an historic Catholic Church located in Detroit, Michigan. The church was founded in 1908 as part of the Polish Roman Catholic Society demographically active in the area at the time. It has remained active in the community for over 100 years, continuing to provide a range of religious services, including weekly Sunday Mass, weddings and funerals, as well as additional activities such as Novenas and devotions. It is one of the best churches in Belarus which you must visit.

History:

In 1908, with the influx of immigrants to the area and the population of Detroit growing, the Polish Roman Catholic Society formed and quickly formed plans to build a church dedicated to serve the growing Polish-American community. Funded by parishioners, the church, named St. Tadeusz’s, was completed and dedicated in 1910. This same year, Father Alexander Kondratowicz was appointed pastor of the new church. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Belarus.

St. Tadeusz's Catholic Church is a great example of historic architecture, standing at 128 ft and featuring two onion domes, one gold and one silver. The style of the church is based on the late Romanesque tradition, but with Art Deco detailing. The interior of the church contains intricate details, including sculptures of Jesus, Mary, St. Tadeusz, and St. Augustine, marble and stone columns, and stained glass windows.

The church provides a wide range of services for its parishioners, such as weekly Sunday Mass, special holiday Masses, weddings and funerals, various devotions and Novenas, an active youth group, and various activities and events.
