San Miguel Arcángel Cathedral Parish is the oldest and most important Catholic Church in the city of Monterrey, Mexico. The parish was founded in 1596 and dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel. The first chapel was built by a Franciscan monk and consecrated in 1597. San Miguel Arcángel Cathedral Parish has served as the religious and social center of Monterrey for centuries, and was the official cathedral of Monterrey until the consecration of Catedral Metropolitana in 1940. History:

San Miguel Arcángel Cathedral Parish was originally developed by the Spanish colonialist Fray Diego de Espinosa in 1596 on the first civic square of Monterrey. Work on the original chapel was completed in 1597 and consecrated in 1603. In 1769, the parish was remodeled and expanded with a new altar, choir, and pulpit. Since then, the Cathedral Parish has been maintained and beautified to become the symbol of Monterrey, which it is today. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Argentina.
