History:

In 1883, La Plata became the capital of the newly formed Argentine province of Buenos Aires, and blueprints for the cathedral began to be drawn up. Construction began on the Catedral de la Plata in March 1884 and after five long years, the building was inaugurated on December 8th, 1888.
