History:

Golf has had a presence in Andorra since the mid-1980s, when the first course, Soldeu-El Tarter Golf Club, opened in the Canillo Parish. Located in the mountains of the Pyrenees, the original course was laid out by Spanish architect Jose Maria Olazabal. Since then, a second course, Vall D'Incles Golf Club, has opened in the Encamp Parish. Soldeu-El Tarter Golf Club have hosted numerous championships since its opening, including the Spanish Open in 1993 and 1998, the European Open in 1994, the Challenge Tour Grand Final in 2003 and the Pyrenees Open in 2004. In 2009, it underwent extensive renovation to become the country's premier golf facility in terms of layout, design and facilities. It now consists of an 18-hole championship course, two sets of professional-standard 6-hole practice circuits and a state-of-the-art driving range, whilst its on-site amenities include golf clinics, a pro shop and restaurant. Vall D'Incles Golf Club was designed in the foothills of the Pyrenees by the Canadian team of Richard Foote and Les Furber. This course was also the venue for numerous regional championships, such as the Andorran Open in 2006. As with Soldeu-El Tarter Golf Club, its on-site amenities include a pro shop, golf clinics and a restaurant. Andorra also hosts a number of smaller, 9-hole golf clubs including Vall Nord Golf and Golf de la Puixaina.
