History:
Parc de la Liberté (Freedom Park) is a public park located in the city of Oran, Algeria. It is located near the city center and was established in 1938. The park was one of the most popular public spaces of Oran, and it was a place where citizens could go to escape the oppressive humidity and to enjoy some grassy spaces. In the early days of the park, sport activities such as football and cycling were popular. In the 1950s, with the arrival of new immigrants, a different type of activity emerged in the park: tango. This activity proved to be popular and a group of tango dancers emerged, free to enjoy their passion in the park. In the 1960s, reconstruction began with larger trees being planted and a lake being added to the park. The park was also a major landmark of Algeria's independence, as it hosted several public performances and parks during the liberation of Algeria from France in 1962. In the 1980s, new attractions were added to the park, including an amusement park. This amusement park included a miniature steam train that was popular with children. Unfortunately, the park has fallen into disrepair in recent years and suffers from a lack of resources and maintenance. Despite this decline, it is still a popular spot for many citizens of Oran, as its grassy areas remain lush and inviting. Visit one of the famous monuments of Algeria with your friends and family.
