3. Apply online or on paper

There are two ways to apply for a Canadian study permit: online or on paper. The online application process is usually faster and more convenient.

• Online application: Create an account on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website. Fill out the application form, upload the required documents, and pay the application fee online.
• Paper application: Download the application form from the IRCC website, print and complete it manually. Attach all the required documents and send them by mail to the appropriate IRCC office.

4. Pay the application fee

Pay the study permit application fee, which is non-refundable, at the time of submitting your application. The fee can be paid online using various payment methods accepted by IRCC.

5. Wait for processing and decision

After submitting your application, you need to wait for the processing period, which can vary depending on various factors such as your country of residence. You can check the status of your application online using the unique identification number provided to you.

6. Provide additional information, if requested

If the immigration officer requires additional information or documents to make a decision on your application, they will contact you. Ensure to promptly provide any requested information to avoid delays in the processing.

7. Obtain your study permit

If your study permit application is approved, you will receive a Letter of Introduction (LOI) from the Canadian visa office. Upon arrival in Canada, present the LOI to the border officer, who will issue your study permit.

8. Comply with study permit conditions

Once you have received your study permit, make sure to comply with the conditions mentioned in it. This includes maintaining full-time enrollment, making satisfactory progress in your studies, and respecting any work restrictions imposed on you.
